Charles A. Ellwood papers, 1890-1946.

Charles Abram Ellwood (1873-1946) established the Department of Sociology at Duke University in 1930. He served as professor of sociology at Duke from 1930 to 1944; his research involved themes of social psychology, religion, social scientific methods, criminology, and the family. The papers feature correspondence, minutes and other records of Pi Gamma Mu, book and article manuscripts, speeches, clippings, and photographs. A microfilm copy of a scrapbook (ca. 1900-1946) contains clippings from Ellwood's career.
